Happy Thanksgiving

After a wonderful day with all of my family, I realize just how wealthy a man I am.
Diana and Edwin were here, along with Katie, Brian and Anthony. David and Jenny and of course Mary and I. Lots of food, laughter and planning the 4am shop along. I have been given more by God, than any man could ask for.
Love to all,
and
HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Monday Night 11-19-2007

As with others, I too am guilty 0f not keeping my blog up to date. Mainly because I don't have much to share that is original. Katie and Diana pretty much cover the pictures and the news of the kids and I just try to throw a few words out every once in awhile.
Mary & I went to hear a speaker at church last night, Dr. Paul Covington spoke on the history of the begining of the catholic (and Catholic) church. Readings from Timothy, and others, that refered back to before the New Testament was written. Extremly interesting and eye opening.
We also had supper with Diana and Edwin tonight. Even after my being around my own children our oldest Grandson Anthony and dozens and dozens of other children, I am so amazed at how Edwin is progressing. And, of course, he loves it when I sing to him. :-) I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family. Speaking of family, David and Jenny fly into Myrtle Beach tomorrow night to be here for Thanksgiving. They will spend Tuesday night with Diana, Ed and Edwin in Supply, NC and then come up to Wilmington on Wednesday. I haven't seen Dave and Jenny since last Christmas. I do miss them so much.
Some of you may understand this next comment, and some may not. However those that know will understand.
In all families, and between people, there will be times of misunderstanding, conflict and disapoinments. This Holdiay season I want to remind myself and all others that there is nothing that we can not work through with the guidance of Jesus. Forgiveness, understanding and being thankful go a long long way. We all make mistakes and we are all forgiven by God.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I know I will.
God bless you all.
Love,
Pappy

A weekend away

Mary and I took a trip this past weekend to the foot hills of the Smokey Mts. (Hickory, NC) We were attending a wedding for the Daughter of some friends (Steve and Lori Ormand)that I have known for over 30 years, and Mary lived across the street from the familyback another 50 or 60 years.. (Just kidding). Any way, their Daughter Lisa met this guy at Disney World in Florida when doing an internship during college.

Proud Papa Steve with Lisa
The wedding was very nice, and the message from the Deacon who performed the ceremony was wonderful. I wish I would have asked for a copy of the talk. We would have loved to have shared it with everyone that is married, looking to get married, or... well you get my drift.

The reception was held at a country club just outside of Hickory. At least I can say that I have been to a Robert Trent Jones course, even if I couldn't play golf there. (RTJ is a very famous golf course designer, just in case you were wondering)
Anyway, a couple of nights away from home, and a ton of beautiful scenery and quiet was to say the least, very relaxing.
Love to all,
Pappy

A few more pics...

Dierdra is a friend of Diana's from work. She came over one night to meet Edwin and share a meal with us.

Anthony at the bat

So anyway....

OK... so I don't update as often as "everyone" says I should. Hmmm.. what's the quote? Oh, I remember.. "Less is more" ;-)

I finally had some pictures developed that I want to share with you. (yes dear friends and family I still use film)

Here is Anthony playing at his first t-ball game. He got a hit and even scored a run. "T-bone" has come so very far from hisfirst day at practise where he didn't understand the game at all. I think he is going to turn out to be a very good player.

For those that don't know, Mary was in Minnesota for a week visiting her Mother, Aunt Hazel and the rest of the "fam". Drama....such drama. anyway, Mary got to spend some time with David and Jenny. Oh, and Otis too. The Dobo's came from Duluth to Dave and Jenny's house for a bit of conversation and laughter.

As for me, I stayed here at the beachworked on the house and enjoyed my Girls and my Grandson's. God is good.

I tried to add a few pictures here at the end of the blog, but alas, I couldn't figure it out, so I will post a few more pictures on an additional post.
Love to all,
Pappy

It's POETS day

I'ts POETS day.... (pee on everything tomorrow's Saturday)
It's actually been a very good week. I got to take care of Edwin on Wednesday night while Diana went out with her "peeps" from work. Hey.. a free meal is a free meal. And besides, Diana brought home a wonderful chocolate dessert to share with ME !!!!!!!!!! She loves me :-)
Thursday night Mary & I went out for ribs with Anthony and his parents. (Just kidding Katie). Damn I'm glad we moved to the beach to be able to be involved with these kids. (Katie, Brian, Anthony, Diana, Ed & Edwin) I thank God every day for my blessings.
Anyway, enough sappy Pappy sh--- . Have a wonderful weekend.
Love to all,
Pappy

Under the weather today. I didn't even go to church, which is very different for me to not go. I am hopeful that this is just a 24hour thing.
Katie, Brian, Diana, Ed, Mary & I all went on a boat cruise last night. A PPD get together. Actually very enjoyable evening. Food was good, weather was perfect, and even got to spend some time with Ed, who is ALWAYS working. Katie took some very pretty sunset pictures on the ride. I do hope she puts some samples on her blog.
Nap time..
Love to all......

Friday at last....

First the car died ('87 Oldsmobile) took it to the doctor, well, i didn't really "take it" it died in front of the doctor's office (Kelly Lloyds garage). So Dr Lloyd fixed what he could after 2 days and made the beast run again. Hurray... Then couldn't sleep, so I tossed and turned and kept Mary awake all night too... Anthony got sick.. poor little guy just didn't do much with that fever. Hey it's Friday... shit.. the battery died on the Olds.... Oh well.... it's only money. :-) (but I did find a really good Japanese deli).
Went out for a Friday night sandwich with Diana and Edwin. We wanted Katie, Brian and Anthony to come along with us, Anthony is still not 100%, so he wanted to stay home. It just breaks my heart when he doesn't feel well.
No more TGIF.. now its POETS (piss on everything tomorrow's Saturday)
But hey... I'm on the right side of the dirt, got a job, Love my family and my God... Life IS good.
love to all...

Labor Day Sunday

Happy Sunday Friends and Family.
I don't know about you, but I do love a 3 day weekend. Especially getting paid for taking the day off. Believe it or not, this is my first paid holiday in about 4 years. That might not be a big deal to you, but it is to me.
Friday night we got to watch Anthony in his first T-Ball practice. Poor little guy got bonked on the head once with the ball, and once in the mouth. Rather traumatic for a 4 1/2 year old. Saturday Katie and Brian went and bought Anthony a helmet. Smart...very smart.
It looks like Momma Mary will be headed to Minnesota near the end of September to visit G.Grandma Louise and Aunt Hazel. I am glad that she is making the trip. She will get a chance to spend some time with Dave & Jenny too. A person never knows when they will get called, and speaking from experience, you don't want to regret not seeing the family when you can.
I sure hope Mary, Mom, Grandma, has let everyone know about this so I am not spilling the beans. I've never been known to do that before. :-)
Anyway.. Have a wonderful weekend.
I Love you all..
Pappy

Hmmmm.. something to ponder

I have been urged to start packaging and selling my "Pappy's" seasonings. Brian might have found a way to create a sales web site that would have a very resonable cost to sell my products on line. We just have to come up with a few new tricks for packaging and shipping, and we could have a business venture in our future.
As far as the information of the day, and some very cool pictures, see Katie's blog. She (Katie) has a new lens for the camera, a ton of talent and some really cute subjects to have pose for her.
Be well.. May God bless all of you and remember...
Make yourself a great day.
Love,
Pappy

Love those M & M's

Grandma Mary & Anthony

Another day in paradise

Sunday's are another day in paradise when you live at the beach. The only thing(s) missing are Dave & Jenny, and all of our friends we left in Minnesota. Being able to spend time with our grandsons and our girls , and the hubbies, has been well worth up rooting ourselves 4 years ago.
And not dealing with -30 winters any longer is a plus too.
I don't even dread Mondays either.

"Yesterday is the history, Tomorrow is the mystery, Today is a gift.. that's why we call it the Present"
Make yourself a great day..
Love to all, Pappy
